Introducing Pantone Color of the Year 2013: Emerald green

Did you know that Pantone 17-5641 Emerald is the Pantone colour of the year 2013?

At UK Curtains and Interiors we are thrilled about it! This lively radiant lush green is a balance of elegance and beauty which is clearly leading the way in 2013, and as green is the most abundant colour in nature it easily captures our attention. So it is a must that we embrace this incredibly versatile colour and celebrate its strong character and vibrancy.

Our wonderful design team have been as always, ever busy creating ideas to show you how to work this trend into your home. By using fabrics available from our vast collection our team have brought together a few ideas to inspire you to get creative with one of nature’s most powerful colours.

Often a strong trend colour can be difficult to use and you may worry that it is a little to bold. Our handy tip is to use it in small measures, just a small accent on a cushion can make all the difference and will instantly bring your room to life.

Lorenzo Cushion - lime

If you feel like being a little more daring and want to use it on a larger scale, you can always tone down the shade so your still bang on trend but just adapting it slightly to suit your home.

Daring emerald green blinds

Never be afraid to mix it up. By sitting equally strong colours together you can create a fun and exciting room, this will instantly update your home and inject a strong funky element to any area.

So you don't need to visit the land of Oz to see the emerald city, just follow our style ideas for this jewel like hue to enhance your home and create a luxurious feel!

London Design Week 2013, Spring’s Ultimate Interiors Event

London Design Week 2013, spring’s ultimate interiors event

Our fabulous design team at UK Curtains and Interiors visited London Design Week. In search of the big trends in home interiors, our style-seekers explored  over 500 international brands at 98 Design Centre showrooms  to ensure our own range of curtains and accessories is current and exemplifies exceptional design that delights the eye and feels good to the touch.

We found some really strong trends this year and we are delighted to be sharing a few of them with you.

Textures and Mark Making

This trend is everywhere at the moment and reflects quite a graphic look in strong colour ways.

For maximum impact these textures are being used in black and inky blues however in the soft stones and natural colours these textures are really effective at achieving a semi plain look. With the perfect fabrics, colours and textures could shine in your space.

Painterly Florals

Although this trend has been around for a couple of seasons it is still very much in evidence. Painted florals are found in abundance whether they are bold and abstract or soft and sensitive. We think this trend is a stunning celebration of colour and below are own plant-inspired patterns.

Retro Geos

This trend was the most dominant trend at London Design Week 2013 and represents the strongest pattern trend in the UK interior industry at the moment.

This trend is quite graphic, Scandinavian in look – lots of monochrome and grey warmed up with soft mimosa yellows, orange, coral and teal to give a bright modern, funky look. Whilst lots of inky blue geometrics compliment the first trend perfectly, we found most collections were a combination of these two trends working perfectly together.
